Heroine: Six Jacobs – Former Slut, Keeping Secrets
Hero: Daniel Wesley – Looking for Cinderella, Adorable Goof
Review:
Finding Cinderella begins when Six Jacobs accidentally finds Daniel Wesley's fifth period hide out—a maintenance closet—and they spend two fifth periods together. In the dark. No names. No physical descriptions. Yet they have an immediate connection. For one hour, they pretend to fall in love. Unfortunately, it comes to a quick end when Six says she's leaving the school soon. The connection they made then transcends into the present, a year later, when they meet face to face—in the light. And it is beautiful and powerful and turned me into mushy goo.
Daniel, our narrator, is best friend to Dean Holder. He’s also sarcastic and witty and hilarious. A bit crass, sometimes, but in an awesome way. Daniel, the things that come out of his mouth... are either funny as heck or oddly sweet and endearing. Loved. Him. To. Pieces. Six Jacobs is best friend to Sky Davis. She’s also snarky and sassy and one cool chick. She can give it as good as she gets it. And only Six could handle Daniel—and best him with her own wit. Together… they spark. They sizzle. They make you smile and giggle.
Finding Cinderella was short, sweet, and totally delightful. I don't know how Hoover writes these fresh and realistic characters but they are so easy to fall in love with. Daniel had me with nearly every word out of his mouth. And Six is the kind of girl you can imagine hanging out with and calling your bestie. I loved them together. I wanted more of them together! This is a must-read for all Hopeless fans—and would also be a pretty cute standalone when you’re in the mood for silly and sweet.
Favorite Quote:
“For real,” I say. “You’re my best friend and I love you. I’m not ashamed to admit that I love a guy. I love you, Holder. Daniel Wesley loves Dean Holder. Always and forever.”
”Daniel, go make out with your girlfriend,” he says, waving me off.
I shake my head. “Not until you tell me you love me, too.”
His head falls back against Sky’s headboard. “I fucking love you, now GO AWAY!”
I grin. “I love you more.”
