Undone (Unbreakable #2) by Rebecca Shea
Contemporary
Rebecca Shea (February 19, 2014)
Synopsis:
Self-assured and independent, she doesn’t need me—but she wants me, and undeniably I want her too. At war with myself as I battle the secrets of my past, I don’t know if I can allow her to see the darkest parts of me, the parts I’ve left untouched—undone.
As she chips away at the walls I’ve built for years, I fear those secrets will hold me hostage from love—forever.
Do you have a favorite author who has influenced you as a writer?
Yes, I have two authors that have influenced me as a writer. First, Rebecca Donovan, and second, AL Jackson.
Let me preface this by saying I learn something from every single book I read. I take something away from each book, each author, and every story. But without a doubt in my mind these two women, are on a pedestal for me.
Rebecca Donovan was the very first author that I read in the New Adult genre. I hung onto every word of Reason To Breathe back in 2011 when I first read it. There was something in the way that she could weave tragedy, heartache, and yet promise into her novel that was so inspiring. When I was writing Unbreakable I remember trying to weave those familiar traits into my story. Obviously, they are 1000% different stories, but I wanted my story to connect with readers on the same type of level that Reason To Breathe connected with me.
With AL Jackson, it’s a different influence. AL’s writing is poetic. Her word choices, her sentences are like that of no other author I’ve read before. I love reading and rereading AL’s books. Her mix of angst, steam, heartbreak, and forgiveness are the total package for me. I love that AL uses little words that are so unique, and consistently uses them in her novels. Now when I write, I look for something, a word, a symbolism, to identify me with my writing.
From a business perspective, both of these women serve as someone I admire. I admire and love their positive personalities, how they interact with their readers, and their keen business sense. I truly believe these two women are here to stay in this ever-changing industry. I can’t wait to see what their future work looks like!
Xoxo,
Rebecca
