Review:
Wow…I love it when I come across a book that surprises me in a good way!
When I began reading this book, it conjured up feelings I thought I had long forgotten. I can honestly say I can relate to this couple. I’ve been so deeply in love that it hurt and it changed me in ways that made me grow and learn from my mistakes. And the journey this couple takes together is about growing up, learning from mistakes, and loving someone so much that you can’t live without them even if you have go through hell to be happy.
Abby’s past has caused her to leave her home to attend college in another state at Eastern University. She’s trying to start over fresh and live a mundane life compared to the one she left behind until she meets Travis Maddox. Travis is everything Abby is trying to avoid. I can’t help but love Travis and all his flaws. Travis is your typical bad-boy. He has every quality that most young girls are attracted to…tattoos, gorgeous, rides a motorcycle, and fights in illegal underground boxing matches. He has never been in love or been in a relationship before. His reputation is known for having sex and discarding the girls when he’s done. So, when Travis meets Abby, he has met the one girl who can bring him to his knees.
"I know we're fucked up, all right? I'm impulsive and hot-tempered and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute and then you need me the next. I never get anything right and I don't deserve you...but I fucking love you Abby. I love you more than I've loved anyone or anything, ever. When you're around, I don't need booze or money or the fighting or the one night stands...all I need is you. You're all I think about. You're all I dream about. You're all I want"
Beautiful Disaster is exactly that. It’s beautiful when it’s good and a when it’s bad, it’s a disaster. This book took me on an emotional journey that made me feel angry, frustrated, annoyed, and happy. I felt frustrated with Abby’s wishy-washy decisions on whether she wanted to be with Travis or not. I felt frustrated with Travis’ jealous outbursts and over-protectiveness. I felt angry when Abby left Travis without communicating with him first. I felt annoyed with Travis begging for Abby back and Abby stringing Travis along. But what’s crazy, I felt hypocritical when I felt happy when this couple would make up because their happiness made me happy. This couple is a train wreck but that’s what made this story so intoxicating. I found myself addicted to finding out how Travis and Abby will work out their next issue. The ending, though, was a bit unrealistic but this is fiction and I read romance for HEA’s, therefore, I could live with the ending.
If you like lots of drama and highly flawed characters, read this book! I’m so glad I found it and wish I had read it sooner.
