Synopsis:

Review:

The truth is rarely pure and never simple. -- Oscar Wilde

TRUTH is an intricately woven plot that begins with Consequences. It would be difficult for a new reader to understand the story without reading the first book. Therefore, before reading Truth, I highly recommend reading Consequences first. You do not want to miss out on a huge chunk of the plot and prior events that happen in Consequences! If you haven’t read it yet, check out my review here.

Anthony and Claire have a complex relationship - which is a HUGE understatement. There is absolutely nothing normal with the way they met or the way their relationship formed. In Consequences, Anthony kidnapped, violated, isolated, and controlled Claire. What started out as a strategic plan of revenge, turned into a very untraditional romance that not only ripped out my heart out but shredded it as well. I was frustrated, angry, and seeing RED by the end of Consequences. There was only one thing on my mind when I began reading Truth: I wanted justice. No, scratch that, I wanted REVENGE. I wanted Claire to get her life back and get her due repentance for what Anthony did to her.

Truth opens up with Claire being pardoned from prison after spending 14 months in jail for the attempted murder of her husband. A crime she didn't commit. With her newfound freedom, she begins to build her life again. This time, she has an agenda. She wants vengeance against the man who ruined her life. She has questions and she wants answers.

As the story progresses, Claire begins to realize that the truth is even more complicated than she ever imagined. And as she begins to investigate and unravel part of the truth, she realizes appearances aren't always what they seem. She should know—she played the game for over two years with Anthony when she was in his possession.

Claire's strength and determination is admirable. She's determined to reveal the mystery that makes up Anthony Rawlings. When he does come into the picture, she finds it difficult to trust herself around him. She vacillates between feelings of love and hate. And, as we all know from reading Consequences, Anthony is easy to love and definitely easy to hate. However, she cannot forget what has been done to her. And Anthony, the conniving, controlling, manipulator he is, is determined to make her his again.

None of this made sense. Claire wanted Tony to pay for his sins. She wanted to bring him down. And, and...and she wanted what they had, but more...better.

For the first 70% of the book, I fought this story. I wanted something completely different. I was unsure where the story was taking me and I felt helpless reading it as it unfolded. It made no sense as to why Miz Romig was leading me down a road I didn't want to go. And then, somewhere along the way, she turned the tables. She made me realize WHY I shouldn't have fought against the story. So at that point, I put my seat belt on and held on tight as I rode this wild and emotional ride.

The questions that are probably on everyone's mind: Is Anthony guilty of his crimes? Is Anthony redeemable? Is there a future for Claire and Anthony? Does Claire get her revenge? I'm sure there are even more questions the readers want to know. Truth does not leave you hanging. Answers will be given. And, oh, what a huge web of truth and lies have been woven.

Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance deceives many. The intelligence of a few, perceives what has been carefully hidden. -- Roman poet Phaedrus

The unpredictable ending once again left me stunned. Everything that is revealed up until that point began to sink in and I put two and two together. I can only imagine the conflicted feelings for those who love Tony and those who hate Tony. Truth will infuriate you, push your boundaries, and leave you begging for Convicted. And if you think you know the Truth, I guarantee, you are probably wrong. I know I was. This boundary pushing psychological thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. You DO NOT want to miss reading Truth.
