Review:
Leave Me Breathless did exactly that. It left me breathless, giddy, and excited. I LURVE this book. I want to marry this book and have its babies. It’s that freaking fantastic.
Macy Rodger’s friends, Candace and Sam, have taken her out on Valentine’s Day. At first she thinks they just feel sorry for her since she is the only one still unattached, but she soon finds out that they have a surprise for her. Seth “Ghost” Warren has just returned to town after taking care of his Nana after her stroke. And surprised she was. Macy has not seen Seth since the night they hooked up in the back seat of his ’69 GTO.
These two are complete opposites. Macy is a conservative country girl who wants a white picket fence, SUV, and 2.5 kids. Seth is a tattoo artist, heavy metal music loving, dirty mouthed, sexy as hell guy. They are like oil and water. Night and Day. Yet they are drawn to each other like a moth to a flame. When they see each other for the first time since that one hot and steamy night, lust is in the air. And it seems a repeat might just happen.
“I’m turning over a new leaf.”
He chuckled. The tip of his finger caught her under her chin, and it was enough to still all her movements. “Tell you what. If you need help with that, if you need someone to shut you up, or even if you just need to walk on the wild side every now and then… I’m your guy.”
And it did happen. They both agreed to keep their relationship simple, no strings attached. What the country girl and the metal head didn’t expect is to actually not only enjoy sleeping together, but they enjoyed each other’s company. What happens when their no strings attached rule is broken and the relationship becomes something more? Will their differences keep them apart?
Seth. Good lordy. The man is sex on a stick. I didn’t really know him in Rock Me but, from the moment he walks onto the pages of Leave Me Breathless, he had ALL of my attention immediately. Getting to know Seth was a real treat too. He comes across as crass and kind of goofy at first but, when you get to know him, he’s a good guy, responsible, and has a huge heart. And the words that come out of his mouth, if they aren’t dirty sultry words being whispered into Macy’s ear, they are poetic heart felt words. Either way, he turned me into putty. I love that he owns up to who he is. He loves his heavy metal, tattoos, and piercings. I have to admit, the piecing down below flips my switch. I also love that he accepted Macy for exactly who she is. He never judged her for not being like him. However, I thought Macey was the match for Seth.
At first, I was worried I wouldn’t like Macy after first being introduced to her in Rock Me where she came across very close-minded and snobby. But right from the beginning of Leave Me Breathless, I liked her voice. She’s funny, strong minded, and feisty. The woman is a firecracker in the bedroom and out. But she rarely lets anyone see this Macy. After almost losing her life in a horse race, she lost herself to her trauma and tried to play it a little too safe. The vibrant, full of life Macy has been repressed. Seth knows there is more to Macy than what she lets people see. The walls she had built to protect herself were slowly broken down by the last person on earth she thought she would ever find comfort and companionship in. Seth. And she did the same for him by giving him comfort and stability when he needed it most.
I absolutely adore and love this couple. As they get to know each other, they realize they may not have music or clothing in common but they have a lot of other things in common. The sexual chemistry is fierce, the make each other laugh, have fun together, confide in one another, and support one another. And their misunderstandings and insecurities do not overshadow the book. Don’t get me wrong, they have issues to hash out, but it didn’t feel like silly drama. There is some drama at the end but I saw that coming. It was inevitable and understandable that they would reach that point eventually. I give the author kudos for giving the reader a realistic ending and not an overly done happy ending. I would have liked an epilogue though! Just saying.
“Macy…” Heaven. She was a little piece of heaven wrapped around him to offset the hell in his head. Her body moved with fluid grace as she began to love him…it was the only word for what she did. Every withdrawal brought her lips back to his. Her scents – like cupcakes and sex – swirled in his head, and he could drown in the dark luxury of her heavy silken hair falling around him.
And when I say they have fierce chemistry, I mean its combustible. Sizzling. These two could not keep their hands off one another. They mauled each other in a bar booth, a restaurant, on a kitchen counter, up against several walls, and sometimes even in a bed. I think Seth Warren’s super power must be stamina because the man is insatiable.
I don’t think my vocabulary is big enough to express how much I loved reading this book. It rocked my world in one day. That’s right. I couldn’t put it down, so I just read and read and read. You get the point. There is no doubt in my mind that I recommend this awesome book to everybody who loves a fabulous erotic romance. I highly recommend starting with Rock Me. I loved that one almost as much too.
