Five Favorite Couples in (modern, romantic, recently read) Literature by Monica Murphy

I’m going to cheat and focus on my five favorite couples I’ve recently read because hey, they’re the ones still lingering in my brain long after I finished reading their story.

I am a sucker for romance. I love a wonderful, romantic love story that makes me swoon, makes me sigh and even makes me cry—happy tears of course (oh fine, I don’t mind a few sad ones too). There have been some amazing books out lately. Books that I glommed onto and devoured in a matter of days (sometimes hours) and the couples were just so amazing.

So here I go. I’m about to share with you the five couples who I recently read that stayed with me long after I finished their story.

1. Gideon and Eva (Bared to You, Reflected in You by Sylvia Day): I’m just as captivated by this damaged, emotional, drama-filled couple like everyone else all over the world. These two were so full of surprises. All-consuming passion, both positive and negative, was a common theme throughout both books. And the way Sylvia Day ended Reflected In You—just wow. She totally went there and it was awesome. Can’t wait for the third book.

2. Sara and Chris (If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones): Lisa is a friend. But she didn’t reveal anything to me in regards to this book and when I finished it, I just so happened to be on a plane to Seattle and I literally said out loud, “Oh. My. GOD.” I got a few stares but I didn’t care. What a cliffhanger! I’m dying to know what happens next! *shakes fist at Lisa* Good job friend, for making me want more.

3. Echo and Noah (Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry): This book…it still sticks with me. One of my all time favorite reads of 2012, if not of all time. It really touched me. Both characters were so well drawn, I loved the alternating point of views and I cried like a damn baby when it was all said and done. I devoured it in a day. I ignored my children, ignored the house, ignored writing, ignored everything and just read. This. Amazing. Book.

4. Adrian and Laney (Façade by Nyrae Dawn): I consider myself lucky that I was able to read this book early. It’s not even out yet. But oh wow, was it ever good. Nyrae really outdid herself with this one. Have you read her book Charade? I loved it…but I think I love Façade more. I love Adrian. Oh, all the emotions he made swirl in my chest. I ached for that boy. ACHED. I cried a lot. As in, I had to go hide away from my family so they wouldn’t see me bawling as I read the end. A wonderful story. I can’t wait for everyone else to read it when it releases.

5. Sky and Holder (Hopeless by Colleen Hoover): I read this book right after Christmas, devouring it quickly as my kids played with their new electronic devices all around me. Oh, and while in bed as I lay there sick with some sort of fleeting (thank goodness) cold. What a book. I loved the characters, the story was shocking and sometimes hard to take and the twists and turns and connection of all the dots were just flat out breathtaking (that ending, oh lordy it made me tear up). Colleen is an amazing storyteller and this is an amazing book.

I could go on and on but I think this is a pretty representative list of my tastes and what I was drawn to this last year. What have been some of your favorite couples and books so far this year? Let me know and help me grow my TBR pile on my Kindle! *winks*
