Synopsis:

In Relentless, college student Claire Nixon and surfer Adam Parker each had a painful past too heavy to carry alone. Claire tried to push Adam away, but Adam's relentless pursuit of her heart and her secrets made her walls come crumbling down.

Though their hearts will never be whole again, Claire and Adam now know they are stronger together than they are apart.

But now Claire's attending college a hundred miles away from Adam. With their relationship already hanging by a thread, Adam is sent to Hawaii on business.

And rock star Chris Knight is back in Claire's life.

Chris wants his ex-girlfriend back and he knows just how to get her: only he has the power to mend the final missing piece of Claire's broken heart. Now Claire must choose between a long-distance relationship with Adam and a second chance at love, family, and home.

Love Triangles by Cassia Leo

When I heard you guys wanted me to talk about love triangles, I thought to myself, “What the heck do I know about love triangles?” Then I thought a little more, and I realized that, of the nine storylines I’ve written, eight of them had some kind of love triangle. So, I guess I should know a thing or two about them, but I admit that I still feel somewhat clueless.

My personal favorite love triangle is Carrie, Big, and Aidan on Sex and the City. It was both hilarious and painful to watch the episode with Big and Aidan rolling around in the mud. Kind of made me appreciate why men love mud wrestling. I think the reason I loved that triangle so much was because I always had a feeling that Carrie would end up with Big. No matter how awesome and sweet Aidan was, they just didn’t have the spark or the history that Carrie and Big had. It was fun to agonize over when/if they would ever get back together.

With Claire, Adam, and Chris, I think the reason this triangle makes people so anxious is because Adam was introduced first, and we all got to fall in love with him along with Claire, but we always knew (through flashbacks) that there was someone else who held a large part of Claire’s heart. So when Chris came back, we all got scared. Then, when Chris wooed us, some of us gave in and some of us put our foot down and said, “No!” Of course, in the end, it’s Claire’s choice. I can’t say whether Claire is choosing the same person I would choose, but I can definitely say that Claire is choosing the person who is absolutely perfect for her.

  2. AH!! Oh boy, this makes me even more nervous for the outcome of who Claire chooses ;) I too, was a big fan of the SATC love triangle and although I liked Aidan and he really did start to grow on me, ultimately no one to me was better suited for Carrie than Mr. Big. In the Shattered series, I feel so opposite. Although, Chris was 1st in Claire's life, I haven't felt he's best for her. Through flashbacks and him trying to get Claire back, I just never swayed from Adam being best for her. We all have different opinions on who she should be with and this is what makes this series so good because of how well written it is and has caused us to feel all the emotions of this triangle!

On that note, I'm with Paula on being another reader to put her foot down! "No! Pick Adam" ;)
    Loved this post!
