How did I not realize this was a serial? *grumbles* I hate it when a serial sucks me in... because I don't like waiting. And I don't like unresolved endings. But now that I’ve read Seven Sons, been drawn in by it, well, too late now. Guess I’m in it for the long haul!
Juliette Portland, daughter of the former Gypsy Brothers Motorcycle Club’s president, had her innocence stolen from her at fifteen. She barely made it out alive. Her dad wasn't even that lucky. After six years of hiding and waiting and carefully planning her revenge, she's about to enact her plan. She's going to take down the man who hurt her, Dornan Ross, along with six of his sons. She’s going to truly make them pay.
So she becomes an entirely new person—Samantha. Juliette/Samantha is a strange combination of hardcore badass and scared child. The things she went through utterly horrified me. Like, bile rising in the back of my throat. And the things she's willing to do to get her revenge... also completely horrifying. All I could think is “you go get ‘em girl” and “this is not going to end well at all.”
Especially since Samantha has a hard time pretending around Jase, Dornan’s youngest and the black sheep in a family of sociopaths. Jase has been resigned to his fate since the day he thought his best friend, Juliette, was murdered by his father. He’s as much a prisoner as Samantha is. But something about Samantha reminds him of Juliette, makes him want to get close to her, even when her actions – her relationship with his father – turn him off.
Seven Sons is very much a dark romance. There is nothing remotely sexy about the sex in this installment. Seriously. Nothing. Juliette is on a quest for vengeance hardcore. The things she’s willing to do and endure will turn your stomach. But at the same time, there’s that spark between her and Jase—the only bright spot in this story. That hope for them, combined with the drama and darkness that is Juliette’s life, has me hooked.
Ooh, I was curious about this one. I didn't know it was a serial either. Dang, but I'm curious.
