Review:

Josslyn Breckenridge, a widow, is finally ready to move on. Joss wants to live again, have passion again, and she wants her next lover to dominate her–in all ways. Even though she loved her husband, because of his past, he couldn’t give her everything she needed or desired in the bedroom.

When Dash, a man who has loved Joss since she married his best friend, sees her at a kink club, he looses it. He's not about to give her up to another man, not after waiting so long for her to grieve. To heal. To be ready for him.

When these two decide to explore Joss’s newfound desires, together, things start to heat up. It was interesting to watch them figure each other out, outside of Joss being his deceased best friend’s wife and Dash being her husband’s best friend. It never felt illicit or deceitful between them. They came together naturally, beautifully. And with a lot of thought and a lot of talking things out.

Maybe too much talking, for my tastes. It felt like most of the book was them talking about their feelings or talking about a bdsm relationship. It dragged the pace down. A lot. It felt redundant when Dash would describe exactly what he was going to do... and then we read him actually doing it. I'd have preferred one without the other.

Also, I have to say, if the back cover says that the book crosses lines, i expect it to actually cross a line. Push a boundary. Nothing about Dash and Joss sexually is something we haven't seen in previous Banks’ books. And Dash, for a man who proclaims to be so very dominant, with Joss he turns into... a kinky kitten. Some light bondage, a short flogging, some public sex... and a whole lot of him putting the Dom aside because he needed to be tender with her. Sweet, yes. But it also felt like that.defeated the entire purpose of her desiring a Dominant in the bedroom.

Letting Go is not my favorite Banks book. There was only one scene that came even remotely close to any crossed lines. In fact, this book felt almost tame compared to her other novels. Gabe, from the Breathless series, was a much more intense, dominant alpha. I expected Dash to be equal or to surpass him. Overall, this one was just not my cup of tea... but it could be yours!
