Review:

When things go bad for Chess, they seem to really go bad. Ms. Kane unrepentantly goes there - no holds barred.

I don't even know what to say without being spoilery. I suppose I could say that, as a person who's never imbibed, I felt like a complete junkie while reading this book. In one scene in particular, I even wanted to start scratching at my own skin... Powerful stuff. The things Chessie goes through to not feel...

I will also say, there is a part where Terrible opens up - says some things to Chess - and it might be one of the sweetest and most touching and then f'ed up dialogues EVER. He made my heart pound... And Chess made me want to pull my hair out.

And then the sh-t really hits the fan. I didn't know if I should cry or scream, or both. And I have a feeling it's only going to get worse before it gets better.

Needless to say, I've started the next book right away. And Sacrificial Magic can not come out soon enough!

Favorite Quote:

“I figure you really wanted me you'd say. Like now, maybe, if you dig. I'll fuckin carry you down your place on a run, you tell me aye, get you on your back afore the next word comes out your mouth. But you oughta have yourself certain, causen I ain't lookin for charity, an I ain't lettin you go after. Once...once ain't enough for me, dig?” – Terrible

Thoughts While Reading:
