Review:

Hilary McIntyre is trying to get her big off-Broadway break. She's also one angry chick. Closed off to everyone but a select few. She just can't seem to let go of past hurts. A past which has led to a relationship with a man she doesn't even really like. And, when that past returns in the flesh, life gets turned sideways.

Alessandro Moretti, former priest to be, is looking to make amends and right old wrongs. He is carrying a ton of guilt with him, some of which includes Hilary. When he shows up on her doorstep, he's just trying to make sure she's truly okay. After what happened in Rome, Alessandro is a bit lost. Finding Hilary again, getting to know who she is eight years later, helps him figure things out.

I adored Alessandro in first book. He was sexy and broody. And, even though I was madly in love with Trent and knew he should be Lexie's happily-ever-after, I was still head over heals for Alessandro too. In this one, he just seemed broken and... pitiful. His constant guilt felt tedious and, at times, aggravating. So many times I found myself thinking, "Let go of it, already." It was like this constant dark cloud surrounded him for nearly the entire book and it ate away the charming Alessandro I knew and loved.

Also, I have to say, this one was not nearly as sexy as the first. The chemistry between Hilary and Alessandro felt more like friends than ex-lovers reuniting. It didn't sizzle or spark. Didn't leave me gasping and panting like Lexie and Trent, or even Lexie and Alessandro.

A Little Too Much has solid writing and an entertaining second chance romance. Many will be captivated by Hilary and Alessandro and their journey. Unfortunately, I didn't connect with Hilary or Alessandro. It happens sometimes. But, because Miz Desrochers is a talented writer, you can bet I'll be reading A Little Too Hot.
