Review:

“I was in love with my best friend.” –Sydney

Sydney Bell loves her best friend, Kyler Quinn. They’ve been inseparable since childhood and, over the years, she fell hard for him. No other boy could ever replace the feelings she has for Kyler. She fears losing his friendship if he ever found out, so she loves him from afar. Another problem is that Kyler is a big man-slut. His bedroom door is a revolving door. Women come and go. Sydney wants to be more than just one of his many conquests and doesn’t feel like she’s the kind of girl he would want. Sydney may not be the leggy, blond, big boob bombshell Kyler usually takes home, but she’s smart, responsible, pretty, and spunky – all in a tiny body. Chloe doesn’t realize Kyler is drawn to her because of those qualities. He could care less about the other women.

“In reality, even though I’ve been with everyone else, I’d always been Syd’s.” -Kyler

Kyler Quinn loves his best friend, Sydney Bell. But will never let himself have her. To him, she is the unattainable. She’s perfect. She’s everything to him. Kyler doesn’t see himself as good enough for the pretty girl that befriended him in elementary school, when no one else wanted to associate with the boy from the wrong side of the tracks. He may be flawed but he’s also amazing. He has spent most of his life trying to be the best friend he can for Sydney and never mess things up between them. He tries to hide the women from Sydney so he doesn’t disappoint her. Though Kyler has misinterpreted her jealousy and longing with disappointment many times. He doesn’t realize that she thinks him worthy and she wants him just as much as he wants her.

Every year they go skiing with their group of friends. Kyler and Sydney show up early when a massive snow storm hits town. Their friends are forced to turn around and go home. Now Kyler and Sydney are stranded at his mother’s house. Alone. Jealousy, heated eyes, lingering touches… all of these things are finally starting to be noticed. A lot can happen when you are forced to spend time together with no one to hide behind.

Sydney has had to watch a parade of women coming and going out Kyler’s life for years. She loves him enough to maintain her friendship no matter how hard it is to watch. It’s heartbreaking to see her struggle with her feelings for Kyler and try to hide them. When she does eventually find her confidence, she goes for what she wants. She wants Kyler to give her what he has given to all the other women. Kyler is shocked by Sydney’s bold request. He doesn’t want to treat her as one of his many one night stands. He wants to give her a piece himself that he’s never given those women. His heart. This little push is all he needed. He wants the girl who made him eat mud pie.

“I’ve loved you my entire life,” he said, eyes locked on mine. “And I would love you for the rest of my life you’d let me, Syd.” -Kyler

I absolutely loved the chemistry between Kyler and Sydney. It’s genuine and beautiful. It’s so much fun and entertaining to watch them fumble things up and then unravel each other as they crash together in a tornado of lust and love. Once that ‘friend’ barrier between them crumbles, things get hot and heavy real fast. But they are also sweet and tender at the same time. This couple will make your heart melt.

Too bad Kyler’s slutty past comes back and haunts them just as they are finally figuring things out. Will their newly blossomed relationship survive when Sydney is put in danger?

I love a good friends-turned-lovers romance. It’s one of my favorite themes in a story. Jennifer’s writing is addictive and charming. She has talent – plain and simple. She writes some of the most sexy and charismatic heroes that make me all tingly inside. She always manages to keep me engaged in the story. I really think fans of this author will enjoy this one. Frigid has a dash of drama, a splash of angst, a heavy dose of heat and steam, a touch of suspense, many laugh out loud moments, and a swoon-worthy romance that will leave a smile on your face.
